Wellness coaches partner with clients that are struggling with exercise, nutrition, weight, sleep, and stress management. A coach is there to assist the client in regaining control over their health. Coaches might help with encouragement, support, structure, expert advice, and provide a means of accountability. They can also help clients with getting "unstuck", to reach optimal health, and to overcome overwhelming challenges.
Holistic coaching is a philosophy, a style of coaching that sees the client as part of a bigger picture. The approach factors in social, mental, and spiritual health components. For example family, relationships, spiritual aspects, and friends may impact the quality of life, or a person may struggle with work stress, parenting stress, or spiritual needs not being met. Holistic coaches factor the person as a whole whos lifestyle in influenced by all the other components in that persons life.
Transformational coaches may help a client see themself in a different healthier way by focusing on the clients' beliefs and values as an integral part of moving towards an enriching life. They help clients see themself without limiting beliefs or rewrite their reality by helping clients grow and develop while breaking down negative thoughts and habits.
Working with a coach for personal growth is similar to working with an athletic coach. A person has someone on their side supporting, encouraging, and expertly asking the right questions to move towards the growth and change desired. This is not something that is taken lightly and will cost money to do. I consider this an investment in yourself. People will invest in a career, a home, status symbols, and education, but when the family grows, health is usually put on the backburner as sleep becomes a challenge, careers are typically more demanding, and relationships are put to the test with all the new responsibilities. I spreak from experience. Solo parenting comes with a similar but slightly differnt set of stressors.
