Some days will feel INCREDIBLE, with high energy, and like the universe has created this serendipitous day just for you. Others are only there to increase the value of the incredible days. What does that have to do with Post-it Notes? Well, these little squares can be a great way to bring attention to desired outcomes and goals (just like a vision board) to put out the vibe so the universe can align to open the doors or at least give a nudge in the right direction on those not so serendipitous days. They can help with staying focused on the results you want, reminders of the bigger picture, and daily affirmations to boost energy levels and motivation throughout the day. Personally, I also use them for quotes and reminders that help to combat negative thought patterns.
Daily schedules help with time management and productivity. These days the "Post-it" can even be on your phone as a reminder that it's almost bedtime and time to put electronics away (the iPhone has this feature). I have affirmations posted on my mirror to look myself in the eyes when I affirm out loud: don't drift away from the goal out of fear or self-doubt, take a chance and do what it takes to get the next step. I have a few others posted throughout the house with goals and inspirational quotes; my personal favorite: Today, I chose to FLOURISH!
When I'm having a disorganized and unmotivated moment I will normally let myself wallow before doing 15 min increments of productivity and 5 min of distraction (walking, writing my feelings as to why I don't want to do anything, planning my next strategic step, etc.). It comes out to 45 minutes of work and 15 minutes of leisure, but the work is intense and concise. I get to a point I don't want to stop after 15 min because I'm "in the zone" or things are flowing and it would be more time-consuming to stop and re-start. Some days I won't reach that point and I will complete my day in 15-minute increments. Here are some tips that may be helpful:
Post your affirmations on the mirror for self-efficacy (belief in yourself!)
Post goals in front of your desk or workspace
Post reminders for nutrition exchanges/recipes, exercise, meditations around the house in the right spots until they become habits
